Metso has announced an upgrade of the Neles intelligent valve controller, ND9000, concerning diagnostics and control performance, robustness and the ease and efficiency of commissioning. The field-proven device was first released in 2003 enabling customers to use predictive diagnostics. Commissioning has always been one of the ND9000's built-in benefits, including easy installation, guided quick start-up and automatic calibration as well as a local user interface on any valve. The most significant improvements, which have been included without compromising any of the existing features, include: Faster calibration, improved usability, linearization, and enhanced commissioning. The calibration time of the new ND9000 has been reduced by 30 - 75%, depending on the actuator volume. Furthermore it offers instant reaction to buttons, and a running index showing the progress of the calibration run; and when assembled on linear valves, linearization can be effectively carried out using an easy, guided process. In addition, improvements to the robustness of the intelligent valve controllerhave been boosted to meet the most demanding field conditions. iCV (Intelligent Control Valves) with ND9000 valve controller help process plants to increase process efficiency by means of control valve constructions that provide superior performance, reliability and control accuracy. The new fast calibration capabilities will reduce the commissioning time during start-up and maintenance which, together with online performance diagnostics and predictive maintenance features, will reduce life cycle costs.
