VEGAMIP 61, the new microwave barrier recently introduced by VEGA, is a sensor that reliably and contactlessly detects the limit level of bulk solids and liquids. The microwave barrier detects the limit level with absolute certainty even under adverse environmental conditions like intense dust generation, fog or high temperatures. The non-contact measurement proves to be advantageous primarily for abrasive products or for very high temperatures. The instrument is insensitive to dirt, buildup and baked-on deposits. Changing product properties, such as density or moisture content, affect the instrument just as little as product temperature or intense dust generation. To detect the limit level, VEGAMIP 61 simply measures from the outside of the vessel through a microwave permeable window. The microwave barrier consists of a transmitter and one or several receivers. The receiver measures the attenuation of the received microwave signal and generates a switching signal from it.
