Biotech Fluidics reports that a major pharmaceutical customer has purchased 17 SPR-200 solvent recyclers to improve the sustainable use of solvents from HPLC systems in their analytical laboratories. The externally powered SPR-200 standalone solvent recycler does not require an external computer, eliminating potential connectivity issues with users' IT systems.
Compatible with most HPLC systems, the SPR-200 continuously monitors the output signal from the detectors of liquid chromatography instruments. In customer labs, the SPR-200 has been shown to recover up to 90% of the mobile phase by redirecting the pure recovered solvent.
High compatibility
The Biotech SPR-200 Solvent Recycler is a completely self-contained unit with an integral display to show current input and settings, and control buttons to easily set its operating parameters. It is normally powered externally via 5V DC, but can also be powered and programmed via a USB connected computer running a terminal software application.
The recycler can reduce the mobile phase in isocratic HPLC by up to 90% by recycling uncontaminated mobile phase into the container. The level of the input signal and setting parameters are displayed on an easy to read four digit LCD. Valve position and current display mode are indicated by LEDs located adjacent to the display. The instrument functions are controlled via a six-key membrane keypad.
Fritiof Ponten, CEO of Biotech Fluidics commented “The SPR-200’s user friendly software allows you to configure operational parameters and to perform online monitoring and create an audit trail of recovered solvent”. He added “Not only does the SPR-200 solvent recycler improve the sustainability of your lab, but it also quickly pays for itself by enabling you to recycle almost all the solvent used by your isocratic HPLC systems”.
