Cooper Crouse-Hinds has launched an explosion-protected hand lamp certified for use in ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous areas. The HE 9 Basic Ex-Hand Lamp is ideal for inspection, maintenance, control, and repair work that needs to be carried out in potentially explosive atmospheres, including industrial chemicals, petrochemicals, and pharmaceutical plants, as well as in other potentially-explosive atmospheres such as rescue services, sewerage, and water treatment plants.
The hand lamp is certified to the European ATEX Directive 94/9/EC for use in explosive gas atmospheres in Zones 1 and 2, in accordance with the latest IECEx standards. The lamp uses environmentally-friendly, rechargeable, high-tech lithium-ion batteries (3.75V / 4.8 Ah), which provide up to five hours battery life. These lightweight, high energy density batteries make handling easier, but also eliminate memory effects, which ensures a reliable power supply to the lamp. A protective circuit and electronics guarantee protection against deep discharge and overcharging of the Li-lo batteries. The HE 9 can be recharged by using a separate, compact, plug-in charger unit.
The lamp is easy to handle due to its compact, ergonomic, lightweight (750g) design. Even when wearing work gloves the user is still able to operate the rotary switch using one hand. By turning the adjusting ring at the light output, the beam of light can be focussed to suit close-up or distant operations. The lamp is protected to IP65, even in extreme ambient conditions. The lamp can operate in ambient temperatures from -20 to 40 deg C (temperature Class T4).
The hand lamp uses a powerful 4.0V / 0.82A halogen double bulb and large reflector, which ensure optimum illumination at all times. The mineral glass lens is resistant to scratches and solvents, which ensures optimum lighting even after years of use.
