2017 starts for HOERBIGER with a new organization that is aligned even more closely with the market and geared more strongly toward benefits for the customer. Retroactively effective January 1, 2017, the former Compression Technology Strategic Business Unit will be divided as follows: The previous Compressor OEM Business Area and the previous Compressor Service Business Area will now become divisions and form the new Compression Technology Strategic Business Unit, managed by Udo Bauer. The Engine and Safety business, which HOERBIGER expects to provide strong growth momentum, are now independent divisions, reporting directly to the CEO Dr. Jürgen Zeschky.
New Appointments
Udo Bauer (47), who joined HOERBIGER in March 2016, will represent the Compression Technology Strategic Business Unit on the HOERBIGER Executive Board as the Business Unit’s CEO. Offering many years of experience, which he was able to gain in all functional areas, and most recently as a member of the extended management board, President/CEO Asia Pacific at the Schaeffler Group, he has intensively supported the KT2020 Project initiated in July 2016, alongside Dr. Jürgen Zeschky. This comprehensive reform of all of Compression Technology’s business activities focuses on the requirements of the international markets as well as the customer benefits of components and services for the oil, gas, and process industries.
Engine Division
The Engine Division, which after facing a difficult business environment due to the economic conditions anticipates lasting growth momentum again in the years ahead, is now independent and will be managed by Hannes Hunschofsky (55).
In his capacities as Chief Operations Officer (COO) starting in 1999, and later as President of HOERBIGER Corporation of America, as well as COO and Head of the Production Division in the Compression
Technology Strategic Business Unit starting in 2012, Hannes Hunschofsky played a decisive role in shaping the development of HOERBIGER. Additionally, he will be able to apply the know-how from his mechanical engineering and business administration background as well as his professional experience in the OEM business at GE Jenbacher, and in the service business at August Storm GmbH & Co. KG, to the new task.
Safety Division
Dr. Thorsten Kahlert (39) will assume management of the Safety Division on April 1, 2017 following Hannes Hunschofsky, currently taking this task on an interim basis. After studying economics at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland, at the HEC in Paris, France, and at the University of Minnesota, USA, Dr. Thorsten Kahlert joined the Boston Consulting Group, for which he worked over 13 years in various positions and countries - most recently as partner and Managing Director in Munich, Germany. As a strategy expert, he served in an advisory capacity to HOERBIGER for many years and was decisively involved in the development of the safety business.
The acquisitions of the IEP Technologies, Newson Gale, and BRILEX brands completed in 2015 and 2016 with the participation of Dr. Thorsten Kahlert allowed HOERBIGER to establish an excellent position in safety technology. The key now is to expand this market position, while acquiring new markets and customers.
Safety technology remains a strategic growth market for HOERBIGER with tremendous future potential.
