The most important biennial appointment organized by Emerson Automation Solutions, the Emerson Global Users Exchange conference, took place from March 7 to 9 2018 in The Hague, The Netherlands. Gathered under the theme "Connect, Communicate, Create", participants met at the well-known World Forum of The Hague to share best practices, learn more about latest trends, get insights and solutions for improved technologies.

A conference for users by users

This year, the conference organized "for users by users", as Emerson likes to define it, attracted more than 1600 attendees. This figure confirms the exponential growth of the conference over the years, if we compare it to the first edition, Düsseldorf 2012, which saw the participation of around 1000 attendees. The worldwide user community – committed to get the most from their investments and achieve Top Quartile performance in different areas such as safety, energy efficiency, reliability, digitalization, IT and production – connected, communicated and created to redefine their action plans in a new, most effective way.

The possibility to network with peers is a central asset of the conference. This year’s theme “Connect, Communicate, Create” wants to convey some of the most important goals of the conference, which are: 1) Generating the ideal environment to encourage the connection with peers and customers. 2) Communicating with them at the same level; 3) Creating new opportunities to expand concepts like Digital Intelligence, Technology Innovation, Perfect Execution and Lifecycle Management.

Emerson Global Users Exchange: Europe, Middle East and Africa

Shaped by users, for users, the event was opened by Mary Peterson, Senior Strategy and Technology Leader at Novartis. The Exchange is managed by an Emerson customer board of directors, comprising users from a range of industries who draw up the conference content and lead the direction of the users group at large.

The rich program of presentations, workshops, forums and trainings on topics such as Digital Workforce, Automated Workflow, Operational Certainty and Performance, Mobility and Decision Support, provided attendees with an overview of best practices to extract the greatest value from technology investments, solve problems and challenges, drive improved performance, boost safety; reduce costs; cut expenses through an effective energy management.

The next User Exchange will be held in San Antonio, Texas (USA), from October 1 to 5 2018. For the EMEA edition, the next appointment will be in 2020.
