Colfax Fluid Handling has received an order to deliver five Allweiler propeller pumps for a chemical plant in Saudi Arabia. The pumps are specially designed for use during production of explosive materials and are valued at approximately €900,000.
The order comprises five propeller pumps that will be used to feed chemical reactors in one of the world's largest chemical-production complexes. The reactors will be a major component of the Sadara chemical complex in Saudi Arabia. Sadara is being constructed and will be operated by the Dow Chemical Company in collaboration with Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) within the framework of a joint venture with Sadara Chemical Company. The company Josef Meissner GmbH & Co. KG of Cologne, Germany will deliver one dinitrotoluene plant with a capacity of more than 30 metric tons, including concentration and recovery of the accumulated acids and wastewater treatment. The Allweiler pumps have a capacity of 5040 m3/h and a delivery head of 3 m.
According to Stefan Kleinmann, Senior Director of Marketing and Business Development at Allweiler: "The pumps in this plant must be specially configured in order to safely handle explosive media in a potentially explosive environment. Our extensive knowledge and years of experience in this area were critical in us receiving the order."
